can i get financial aid for school if i have a gross misdemeanor?

my misdemeanor is for soliciting a controlled substance. it was originally a felony for attempt to distribute. the substance is oxycontin. ill leave it at that. im on to different things in my life now, and want to go to college. do you think they will help me out?
