First off what do you think of this plan?

My SIM card was broken and T-Mobile replaced it free of charge. I lost my phone and now I am looking at Ebay for a new one. I was thinking maybe I can go to t-mobile and get a new SIM so that I can just slam it into the new/used phone from ebay.

Well just tell me, are new SIM cards free?

no, they will charge around $30 for one.

You can however purchase one of the cheap $20 prepaid phones and stick the simcard that it comes with in your phone. Before activating the simcard call T-Mobile up over the phone and tell them that you lost your simcard and were given a brand new simcard to use. They will ask for the code that is on the simcard and also probably the code on your phone under where the battery goes.

They will activte the simcard with your phone number and everything.

Dont tell them that it is a prepaid simcard. If you say its prepaid they will refuse to activate the simcard with your old phonenumber. But if you dont tell them its a prepaid simcard they will just activate it as if its a regular one that t-Mobile originaly gave you.
