can i fit a 460 in a 1991 ford ranger with work?

You can fit any engine in any vehicle provided you have the mechanical skills, fabrication skills, and money.

You won't find a swap kit for this so I hope you have access to the required fabrication equipment and have the skills to use them. You will be fabricating lots of custom parts.

I hope you have the complete engine, transmission, and ignition system.

You may have to make a new Transmission hump in the cab to make room for the larger components. You may also need to make some serious modifications to the firewall.

You will also need to make some serious modifications to the front suspension, steering, and brakes to handle the additional weight and size of the big block engine and transmission.

You will need a new radiator sized to cool a big block.

You may need to fabricate a custom set of headers. You will also need a custom exhaust system.

You will need to replace the rear end. The stock rear end wouldn't last long. A good 9" from a full size truck narrowed to fit would be a good choice. Select a good locker or limited slip differential with some strong axles.

You may also want to install a 4 link rear suspension. What good is it to have all that big block power if all it will do is sit there and smoke the tires. You want it to hook up so all this power will work for you.

You will also want some tires that can handle this much power. You may need to tub the wheel wells and alter the frame to make room for these larger tires. Again, you want the tires to hook up so all this big block power will work for you.

You will need to purchase a custom drive shaft.

You may want to search the Internet for more information. There are several Ford Ranger forums with people who did this swap. You can find out how they did it so you don't have to re-invent the wheel.

cut the inside fenders out of the truck, it makes it a lot easier to put the motor in. about 4 years ago my buddy put a 460 in his mustang all he did was cut the inner fenders out and remove the heater core from the firewall and then used cutting torches to make the fitment better.
