Can I feed my fish algae wafers?

Someone on here said I could feed algae wafers to my Platies and Guppy. I used to feed them goldfish flakes I had from my old goldfish that died, and just today I started feeding them tropical flakes instead. I feed them every morning whenever I wake up. I was wondering if they can eat the algae wafers because I have leftover one I bought for an Otto I got that just ended up passing away the day after. If I can give them algae wafers, how many? I have two Platies and one Guppy in a 5 gal tank.
EDIT: I've never fed them the wafers before. I'm asking if I can.

Your fish would be OK eating an occasional tiny piece of an algae wafer. Feeding them stale goldfish food was probably a bad idea, but they seemed to have survived. One algae wafer would be entirely too much to put into 5 gallon tank. One quarter of one wafer once every two weeks would probably be fine, but any more would be too much. Also be very careful about overfeeding. One tiny feeding once a day and maybe one or two fasting days per week would be a healthy diet for your pets. Any more than that will necessitate more water changes to remove uneaten food. It's nearly impossible to starve fish, but it's really easy to kill them with too much food. Be careful and do those small, frequent water changes accompanied by substrate "vacuuming".

they'll probably eat the algae wafers, but it isn't the best diet for them.
those tropical flakes aren't the best for them either.

hikari micro pellets would be the best for them. a small $3 bag would last a long time.
