i pay my lawyer lot of money--let say 10k a month only for them to tell me that my deposition is weak and that i might lose the case. arent they suppose to try to help me otherwise? my lawyers want money from me left and right but doesnt do much.
btw...this case has been going for 4 yrs already. my other question is--can i go to trial without a lawyer representing me or should try to settle with the plantiffs myself? i have a huge dalema. please help.

You may drop your lawyer at any time but since they have been on the case for 4 years they probably have a good understanding of it. Setup an appointment with them and have them discuss the case with you, as they are supposed to, and have the explain the strategies that they are pursuing. If you feel there is a problem with them call the Bar association ethics committee in your area and file a complaint.

You can go to trial without a lawyer but it is not advisable. Plus the other attorneys are not allowed to contact you, they are only allowed to contact your lawyer unless you terminate your relationship with him. My opinion is that you should just make an appointment and speak with them. Ask them all the questions you can because that is what they are there for.
