I am writing a book about a specific phenomenon that was covered in an episode of a reality tv series. I wanted to discuss the episode as it related to that specific event...
can I discuss an episode that has already aired, without the permission of the producers of the show as long as I give the proper credits, and properly represent what happened in the episode?
the episode has already aired (on many occasions) and it's been discussed over the internet, as well as in some magazines.
I mostly want to discuss the episode as it relates to the topic, not make any reviews about the show itself.
create a fictional tv series and episode? That's kind of a dumb idea no offense... faking a tv show is as bad as faking evidence in a research project. It totally discredits all of the research. It would discredit the entire book.
I'll probably just contact the production company and seek permission.
