can I connect stereo speakers on a 7.1 pc?

I bought a computer with 7.1 audio and I want to connect it with my stereo speakers but I'm having problems. I also hav a tv tuner which uses line-in jack to transmit audio. the line in jack on my pc also doubles up as a side speaker jack. When I set the line in jack as a line in jack I dont get any audio.

pick up a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter, or maybe you could call customer support for your sound card
