can i connect my subs to my Stereo?

Ok here's what i want to do...i want to hook my 600w Amplifier up to a battery and my stereo (like one in my house(not one in a car)) and my two subs up to the amp getting the audio from the stereo...would that work i don't think it would i just wanted to know...
 
The amp will more than likely be drained within a few hours. The best thing to do, which i have set up right now, is find an old psu (power supply from a computer) make sure it's about 450watts or higher because otherwise you will continue to short it out by sucking too much juice.. then cut 2 of the yellow wires, splice them together, then hook them into the + in the amp. Then do the same with 2 black wires (ground). Now you need a remote... take a short wire (a few inches) connect it to the + on the amp and then hook it to the remote. Hook up your speakers and Sha Bam!!! it works
