Can I come to Cricket w/any phone?

I'm considering Cricket Wireless and I think I'll finally dump Verizon this month. But Cricket doesn't have a wide selection of phones. So would it be possible to purchase a Cricket phone online (most likely from you guys on the forum =]), bring it to the store and open a new account with it? Just curious about what my options are. I have the feeling the rep may charge me an activation fee if I bring my own phone in...?

Thanks in advance.

Read the FAQ :)

You can bring almost any phone to cricket, and activate it over the phone. You can even flash it from verizon to cricket yourself.

there's an activation fee anyway you go with cricket now (most markets). it doesn't matter if you bring your own phone or buy one from them.

What about a tutorial for an older phone. I was happy to see the easy info in this forum for my 6700, but my wife has a LG VX8000 and the closest I've found so far is a tutorial for an 8100. Any ideas or links would be great.

Just flash a phone and bring it in. Your going to get charged an activation fee regardless of if its there phone or your phone so thats a mute point. You will need to know how to access MDN/MIN programming on the hanRABet though.

Thanks.

I've been itching to try to flash a phone myself, but I'm not that electronic savvy. I had planned to wait until I switch carriers and that way, I could experiment with my Verizon phone. I'll check out the phones for sell. Any recommendations on who's a trusted seller here on the forums? =)

Jammis usually has more smartphone's than regular hanRABet. But he's had a V3m recently so he might be willing to buy a Verizon hanRABet and flash it for you. Others off and on will sell hanRABets that are pre-flashed as well.

What is the best way to navigate to these tutorials here? This is a great site, but thier is so much information it's easy to get lost.

Please tell me, how do you do that?? I lost my Cricket phone, and someone gave me a Verizon phone that I would like to use now with my Cricket service. I called Cricket and they charged me $15 to switch the phone but it didn't work... we got to the point at which I dialed *228 and the phone began programming but after about a minute it stopped and a message on the screen said to the procedure was unsuccessful.... what does this mean and what do I do now? Please help I can't be without a phone.

Oh. I was going to ask. Why are you going to durab VZW? I want to know so i can go play chicken with the guy's in the Verizon forum :hehehe:

lol the 6800 is only available from alltel and sprint and im getting a sprint one to put on cricket. My V3m is from verizon prepaid and flashed to alltel to cricket. lol, oh i solf my Q too.

You can flash almost any phone as long as it's CDMA. You cannot flash a GSM phone.

Some manufacturers and providers make it difficult to unlock a phone for flashing. Others are relatively easy.

A lot of people want phones that are nicer than the ones that Cricket offers.

If you want a flashed phone you can either pay someone else to do it or save your money, search the forums, and learn to do it yourself. Some people have even made a profit servicing other people's phones for them after learning here in the forums.

Something to consider.

What kind of data cable? I am completely without a clue here.... the "customer service" rep at Cricket told me I could bring the phone into a Cricket store, a Verizon store, or pretty much any place that sells both Cricket and Verizon phones and someone there would be able to get it to work, was that a load of BS he was feeding me or will they really do that?
