Can I carry a handgun with me outdoors in New Mexico?

Hi guys, I was curious if anyone knew if the restrictions on carrying a handgun when outdoors ( camping, hiking) , and Im not talking about concealed carrying. I dont have my concealed licence yet, but i go camping a lot and was curious as to if I could bring my 9mm or magnum with me for protection?
 
If you are out and away from people like in the mountains and carrying a fire arm , carry it concealed.irregardless. First, who is going to arrest you?
 
in NM you need to have a carry permit. if you don't conceal it it will not matter. if any piece of clothing covers it at anytime if it is in a car or in your tent you will get hit for concealed...it sucks but its true...good luck
