I got my friend a cell phone under my name that he would use because at the time he was 17 and I was 18. He had a job at the time so he was always able to pay on time. We agreed when he turned 18 which happened 2 months after I got him the phone that we would change the phone to his name. We kind of forgot about and just remembered to do it last month (which we can no longer do because they had to a credit check on him). I especially want to change it now because he got fired from his job (because he spends all his time and money with his girlfriend). Even though he has no job he still goes over his minutes and the bill always ends up being way more than it should be. Last month I was almost charged a late fee because he didn't pay me on time. The phone bill for this month was due yesterday and I have no expectation that he will pay soon. I was charged over $400! and do not want to continue like this. I want to cancel the phone even though they will charge an early cancellation of about $150 because I fear next month will be worse than $150. Can I cancel the phone bill now and sue him later if he does not pay me back within a reasonable amount of time?
