My father has had an old 300 Bayou up in his barn now for years and never used it. He gave it to me to fix it up and sell it for him but I'm having a problem getting it to make fire.
Guess I'll start from the beginning. After installing a new battery, when I pushed the "start" button there was nothing. It never even dimmed the neutral light. I crossed a screwdriver over the positive and starter wire and it rolled over good, so the power is there...just not getting relayed when pushing the button. Thinking that it's an easy fix I went to Napa and got one of the old push button type starter switches and hooked my wires onto it. Now it whirls over with the new switch, but I have no fire on the plug. There were 2 other small wires going into that solenoid as well...one power going in, and a power out that goes into the wheeler's harness. I tried fastening the 2 together, and even hooking a jumper wire to the one that goes into the harness, but I still cant get any fire. Does that solenoid condense the power somehow to make a spark? Is there any way to bypass it? Any help is appreciated.
