I would not only use it to run the business out of but to give the employees a vacation. You see, I'm about to take over a small business that has just 2 employees (one for 15 years). They never take vacation time so as a perk i was thinking about buying a house on a lake in a development we have a lot of clients in. I can run the business out of there and have it so that weekends they can stay with there family. Is this legal.... and how would taxes work? Besides I'd like to keep home and work separate.

we need an office for phone calls, doing the books, meeting at least 2x daily for route info, product storage, ect. I need to get a property anyway. Just thought this would be a smart way to go about it. Thank you!

If your business is a C Corporation your business can buy it and designate it as a Corporate Retreat, for employees to use and to hold training sessions also. If you purchase it outright, if you use it for 14 days or more for personal use, It would have a limited deduction value for you. If it is used as an office, yes you can rent it out, I recommend putting the property in an LLC at that point. Good Luck to you!!!
