...even if there is none? So me and my boyfriend moved into an apartment about 7 months ago and quickly realized we have a nuisance for a downstairs neighbor. This woman is about 60 and her daughter is living with her because she has a severe disorder. Her daughter cannot eat, bathe, or ultimately live by herself. It is an extremely sad situation.
When we moved in, I became friends with her and chatted with her every now and then. For the past 2 months, however, she has been complaining that we have been noisy at night. The first time, she asked if we could be quiet past 8:30 PM because that is when her daughter goes to bed. We totally thought that was fine and did our best to be quiet. But her daughter's room is directly below our living room and kitchen. If we are just walking around, she thinks we are being loud.
Last night, she came upstairs at 9:30 and told us that we woke up her daughter. She also told us that her daughter has seizures at night if she is woken up. We were just walking around our apartment, I was doing the dishes and he was watching television.
I feel as if this is getting out of control. I can't even walk around my aparment past 8:30 PM without feeling nervous. I also don't want to be "responsible" for her daughter having seizures! Can I break a lease (that has 5 more months left) due to these reasons?
