hi everyone. im planning to download ubuntu onto a flash drive, then select my broken laptop (not this one) to boot from flash drive.
because when i boot up a black screen comes up with a flashing cursor.
so im wondering if thatd work?
or is there a step im missing out? i was just going to copy all the unbuntu files to flash drive then hopefully itll fix my problem.
thanks carling.
but laptop doesnt have cd or dvd drive. =[

you will need a 8gig flash drive to start with I have tried to install ubuntu 8.10 on a 4 gig flash drive and it said it was not big enough for some reason.

now you will need to download Ubuntu, 8.10 then make the ISO CD/DVD to boot your computer, Once made boot the computer with the CD/DVD. You have an option to make a boot flash drive

Place the Flash drive in the usb port, click on the option to make the boot flash drive and follow the instruction

Take it back and buy a DELL for $330 at Best Buy; soft-touch keyboard. Target is a "stupid head" of Electronics.
