Can I apply for financial aid for the spring semester?

I applied in January when I was 17 and all I got were loans and my mom defiantly don't want to take that route. So I'm paying out of pocket for this semester but I was wondering if for next semester if I can apply again but not include my moms financial information. I want to be able to get grants but I think because my mom is in a certain tax bracket I can't.
 
The only way you won't be able to include your mom is if you are declared an independent. You have to meet one of the following criteria:

- You are 24 years old
- You are married
- You have people dependent on you
- I think there is one for veterans.

A friend of mine didn't have to list his parent's info because they worked outside the country, and didn't pay taxes in the US.
