Can hiking 7 miles 3 times a week help me shed pounds?

I've just found hiking very challenging and I can see a small change in my body. I like it cause where I hike there are a lot of people hiking , jogging and riding bikes. I can mix it up with going to the sauna to heal aching muscles afterwards. I may do weight training twice a week cause hiking really does a lot. What do u guys think?
