Can guinea pigs be living outdoors in a sturdy, heated cage? Will the rats get to them?

Guinea pigs should not be smelling, if they are, that means that you need to clean the cage more frequently. Any animal [including humans] would stink if they lived in a toilet with no flush. There is a high possibility rats could get in to the bars. Guinea pigs should always be housed inside, because now that they are domesticated, they must live inside as inside pets.

My guinea pigs smell really bad, and I would like to build them a house and put them outside. If I put a heater and a few blankets, is it alright to keep them outside? I'm just a bit worried about the rats, because my town has a lot them. Any advice or tips?

If you have out grown your guinea pigs, which it sounds like you have as you are not spending enough time with them to keep them form smelling, you should r-home them. They should be in a home where they are inside and get all the attention a guinea pig needs for their physical and emotional needs. There in nothing shameful about outgrowing them, it is however, shameful to just keep them because they are yours and not give them what they truly need, so how about considering re-homing them.
