Can exercising consistently with a high heart rate cause chest pain?

First, I have addressed this chest pain with my family physician & another doctor (in the walk-in-clinic) to address this issue. One suggested it was an inflamed chest wall, and the other suggested that it was a chest infection/virus. At the time, it had been the first occurrence of the pain, it didn't seem to be correlated with exercise and the description of the pain (see below) didn't seem to be associated with angina/heart attack or any heart conditions which I could be ask risk for.

Second, I am going in for another checkup within the next few weeks. I'm merely speculating.

Now, I've experienced the pain on 3 separate occasions (May, Aug, currently). The pain is very mild and pinching. It was located generally on the left-side though I have briefly experienced it on the right for a few days. It's more discomfort than anything. It's difficult to describe the duration of the pain. I can't recall whether or not the onset is sudden or gradual. It lasts for weeks and comes on it waves, though lasts for several hours during each wave. It's less uncomfortable earlier in the day and later in the evening. It doesn't get worse during or after exercise.

I just recently noticed a correlation between the chest pain and exercise. Last year, after not running for about 2 years and gaining 25 lbs, I decided to run a half-marathon. I only trained about 15 miles a week for 6-8 weeks before the marathon. As far as I could tell, I was perfectly fine during training & racing. I then didn't run again until May, which I started having the chest pains after a few weeks. I didn't stop running until after seeing the second doctor, and the pains went away shortly after. I assumed the physical activity was only irritating the condition. After a few weeks, & the heat wave, I started running again. I started getting the chest pains again, which I associated with my sinus' (chest infection + sinus infection seemed complimentary) and I stopped running after I pulled a muscle in my lower back. I recently started running again and, surprise, so did the chest pain.

After reading an article on running health, I purchased a heart monitor. According to it, my resting HR is 60 (after sleeping), during the day it's between 70-80, and when I run my LIGHTEST JOG it shoots up to 171, about 85% of my recommended HR. Usually, I like to push myself when I run (I used to be a regular and decent runner up until a few years ago). It seems reasonable that I could be far more out of shape than I realized. Looking back at everything in the past year, it would seem plausible IF overusing the heart on a regular basis could lead to general chest pain, especially if there were some sort of trauma/damage (such as an ill-prepared half-marathon). Right? The question is, of course, IS it possible or unheard of?
I'm female, 25 yrs old, 5'2 & 130 lbs, in case that helps.
