Can European E70 model get good reception in US?

I have ordered a silver E70 from TigerDirect online that should arrive next week. This phone runs on GSM bands 900, 1800 and 1900.

Upon finding out that the US runs on bands 1900 and 850, I then ordered a black model from the Nokie website(850,1800,1900) in hopes of returning the silver one back to TigerDirect.

I live in Virginia and was wondering if anyone else had a silver European model E70 that got good reception and service without the 850 band.

Thanks

Since you're on Cingular, you'll want to keep the black one. I don't know what Cingular's coverage is like with 1900 in Virginia, but either way, you'll have much better reception with the black one with 850.

^^^Listen to the man.

I tried a Moto v3x in florida on cingular and i got bleh reception. it was fine if i was outside but the second you walk inside it's gone.

Your in Norfolk, as am I. In VA Cingular uses only 1900 south of Fredricksburg. Also NC and SC are 1900 only, so you won't be missing any coverage.

180 miles or so. Thats not that close. Im from Falls Church, so I know the need for 850 there but if you stay out of the "occupied" north, as many people from this part of VA do, then who cares about 850?

I look at it like this: Do you live in Europe or the United States? Will you be seeing more of Europe or more of the United States throughout the next year or so (depending on how long you have either E70 or E70-2). When the day comes when you take a vacation outside of your normal travel area and suddenly you don't have any reception, you'll regret not having that 850 band. If you already have both, then what does it matter anyway? Are you partial to the silver color?

Thanks for all the help! Although the silver Euro version is coming via UPS, I am going to send it back to TigerDirect. I am already setting up an overnight shipment from the NokiaUSA website of the E70 US version. I do sometimes frequent the DC, New York and Delaware areas so I think that having the 850 band may be a benefit.

Why? I'm serious.

The network name displayed in Moscow was "MegaFon" (I switched to manual here, because some of the other networks didn't seem to work right.)

In Berlin I turned on network auto-select and the network name was generally "o-2" something or other, maybe "o-2.net"?

Full bars almost everywhere. I was shocked. Mind you, I was mostly using it for email.
