We got in arrears with our Electricity company EDF. Our average actual usage per month is £60 and we have been paying £85 PCM, to cover it plus bring arrears down each month (arrears are c £250). A month after we agreed to pay said amount they asked us to start paying £95. We can't afford it and are carrying on paying £85. We had a letter from them today saying they have stopped our payment plan and we have to pay it all in one go or they are coming round in 7 days to force us to have a pre-payment meter. We only rent the property so we cant allow them to do this.
Do they have the legal right to come round and force us to have one even though we are bringing the arrears down?
