Can eating poop harm a child?

i doubt eating poo will cause any harm, my friends baby ate some poo when she was in the bath once, and she was fine, nothing happened to her.
I would perhaps, depending on her age, get her to help with the clean up- and talk to her in a calm way explaining that poo is for the loo!

yes a child can get very sick from eating poo read the link and you must get her to a doctor as soon as possible stay strong honey she will be ok as long as your quick

I put my daughter down for a nap about an hour and a half ago, and about 10 minutes ago, my living room (one floor house) started smelling like poop. My daughter just started knocking on her bedroom door to let me know she's awake about 5 minutes ago. When I opened her bedroom door, her blanksets, pillows, EVERY SINGLE WALL, the back of her door is complete smeared with poop. Her hands, legs, and face were covered with it, and she had a big chuck in her mouth. Her mouth is covered with poop.

My daughter has a neurological condition, microcephaly (small head/brain) and along with the microcephaly, she has pica (the uncontrollable urge to eat non-food things). Will eating her own poop harm her in any way, and what is an acceptable punishment for her, that does NOT involve physical contact (ie spanking), since we are not spanking parents?
