What cause's the wrist pins to go on these things. Is it the sewing machine oil that they run on (5w30) or is it from having someone put thicker stuff in (10w30/40), or is it the metals used in the build of the pistons and connecting rods? or is it something else?
Anyways is it Ok to put 10w30 or 40 in these engines to hopefully slow the self destruction of the engine, or will thicker oil not flow right and make things worse?
This is my first Chevy, Its a nice built truck but I find the oil spec a bit perplexing.
