Can Burmese Cats live outdoor?

I've 8 months old Burmese cat, and I've been thinking about letting her outside. She's very active, and I don't think my flat is big enough for her to live happily. I've stated to introduce her to the outside, letting her out a couple times and following her. However, I've searched online and found some controversial information on Burmese cats. Some sites mentioned that this breed couldn't be an outdoor cat, since it had no defense instincts. Does anyone can shed a light on this matter for me?

Someone who has an outdoor Burmese?

Cheers

If you let her outside, prepare yourself for extensive vet bills, for having fleas and ticks and possibly lymes disease in your home (which will affect YOU as well as the cat and can cause paralysis or if you're lucky, just severe arthritis) and for the cat to live only about 5-8 years.

I'd suggest you get her a cat tower with a bunch of toys to keep her occupied ..things hanging that she has to jump at, chase, etc. Play HARD with her (not roughly...but really get her running after those toys so
she sleeps a lot when you're not together or are busy.)

Personallly, having had a Burmese, I'd never EVER let them outside. I would not do anything that would take one much less several of their years of life away. They (cats) don't live long enough as it is (even if they live indoors to 20 years, you will want more time with them, you'll love them that much).
Good luck

We've owned 3 Burmese cats and they've all gone outdoors. 1 was very territorial and would fight with every male cat he came across. The 2 girls we had were hit by cars and lost their tails. 1 of them ended up dying of shock from a near miss with a car but this can happen to any cat! The other 2 lived their lives going in and out as they pleased. They both lived to be 12 & 13. I think your cat should be just fine unless you live on a busy road or near a busy road.
