Can Bots tell the answer to questions in a PHP form ?

I want to have a simple question in my PHP form that sends mail to my inbox but I do not want to be spammed out of it.

I was just wondering, If i put up a text field and say, input the answer of 1 + 1 into the textfield and use that as a way of blocking spambots, will that work ? Will spambots know what to input into the field ?
