Can anyone Repair 3gs Backlight?

Dear All,


Is there anyone on the forum that regularly repairs the back light on 3gs? i.e. the back light just goes off for no reason...no water damage etc

I often have this fault but as of yet haven't found a working solution :0(

I have searched the forum and found two solutions:

1. Change the coil......I have tried this 4-5 times but I have had no luck on each occasion

2. Jump connections 2/3 to the battery terminals.......again no luck...just a hot phone!

Has anyone on the forum repaired this before??

i repair many 3GS handset with back light problem by replacing the coil. all due to liguid damage. i use the coil from nokia 6230(i).
make sure the coil is soildered on properly and in the right direction. check the sides are not touching any metal casing.
use soilder iron rather then heat gun to remove and replacing the coil. cut bit bracket off just near the coil th gain easy access.

I used a coil from the K800 and it now works....not the easiest of fixes though
