Can anyone recommend a good commuter bike? (Bicycle)?

I am a novice (newbie) bicyclist and I was wonder could anyone recommend some good commuter bikes. I am mainly using it to commute to school (High School Junior). I was looking around and I'd prefer something like a hybrid. i.e. http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/bike_path/hybrid/7000/
 
That's about as good as you're going to find. Go for it.

All the brand name bikes in a narrow price range will be comparable in quality.
