Can anyone recommend a good 'coffee-table' book of black and white photography?

It would be for a non-english speaking relative - hence the need for a book with minimal text.

The subject could be anything - landscape, documentary-style, social history, vintage photography - preferably with a British theme but not necessarily.

I have thought about Ansel Adams but thats where my ideas end.

Any help appreciated!
