Can anyone identify this film from my vague and garbled recollections?

It was a tense American thriller from the 80s or 90s, about a young woman who lived on an upper floor in in a snazzy apartment block, who started getting mysterious phone calls and packages from a stranger. I think the woman was involved in modern art, and there were some scenes that took place in a modern art structure with recordings of steamy conversations that played when people walked through it. I recall there were some tense "Rear Window"-type scenes when someone was watching from across the street and saw the baddie had got into her apartment. I have a feeling there was a musician involved in the plot somewhere. Sorry this is hopelessly disjointed and vague...I'll be amazed if anyone manages to place the movie from such a haphazard description, but it's worth a try! :)

Not sure if I'm thinking of the same one, is she being terrorised by the stranger and it enRAB up with her thinking that she's identified the man who's been doing it so she starts threatening him and he kills himself. She thinks she's free of him only for the telephone to ring and the man who's the real culprit is still alive.

Bet it's not the same one, is it? :D

I remember one like that with Johnboy walton i it.
Also one where thw woman falls for her stalker and it had an erotic scene where she uses an orange or peach :D

I'm sure this is the one I'm thinking of! I remember the bit with the orange.

Funnily enough, many of the other posters' suggestions had gone through my mind when I was trying to name the film, but it isn't any of those. I'm sure it's the one with the orange. Yes, it could be that she falls for her stalker. The biggest clue is the modern art structure...it's like a tunnel that people walk through while these steamy recorded conversations are playing around them. Possibly the woman has been doing some sort of research involving taped phone conversations. How the orange scene fits into all this I'm not sure...but I do remember that bit, definitely.

Aaargh, isn't it frustrating when you can't quite remember enough details to piece it together?

No, it's not that one....but it does have a similar set-up with the person observing dramatic goings-on from an apartment across the street. Not Rear Window either.

Hi again,

I'm still racking my brains over this, but I've had no luck trying to find out what this movie was. It isn't any of the suggestions above (although I really appreciated the suggestions.) I did remember another detail: I think there was an orchestra musician or possibly the conductor of an orchestra involved in the plot. I can't remember if he was the stalker or the good guy. Does that jog anyone's memory?

Thanks again if anyone can help...this is driving me nuts! I really want to see this film again, but I have to find out what it is first!

Hell, I think I've seen this, the modern art structure and the recorded voices is ringing a massive bell, and now it's driving me mad as well - off to do some research :)

Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! :) Good luck...I hope you fare better than I did trying to find it online. A big clue is the bit someone mentioned re the orange or peach, which was mentioned in one of the erotic phone conversations. And that modern art structure, which I can clearly picture in my head, the conversations playing spookily as the woman walked through the tunnel-type thing...and then there's the orchestra bloke, and the apartment being watched from across the street, and the stalker....aaaargh, it's driving me crazy!

Sorry can't help been racking my brains over another film
someone asked me about and all they gave me was her dad hid gems in a teddy  least you have more to go on hehe good luck

Eureka! :) I think that's it! Thank you so much! :) The description in that link sounRAB very much like the way I remember it...especially the bit about the camera gliding through the apartment. It makes sense that it was a TV movie, too, now I think about it. It had that sort of feel to it. Again, many thanks! :)

I suddenly remembered this thread which I started over two years ago! Funnily enough, I stumbled on something online today which jogged my memory about this quest. It turns out I'd been somehow mixing up *two* separate films in my mind. One of them was definitely "Someone's Watching Me", as identified by pierre_gustave a few posts up.

But the other film--the one with the erotic phone conversations (and the saucy fruit-related shenanigans!..apparently it was an orange, not a peach!) :) is called "Call Me", made in 1988 apparently, and starring Patricia Charbonneau.

I found Someone's Watching Me on amazon, but Call Me is going to be a bit trickier, as apparently it's never been released on DVD. Hopefully it will turn up on TV at some stage and put us all out of our misery! :)

I'm still not sure where the modern art structure thing fits into it all. Hmm. Maybe I imagined that bit? I can clearly remember the woman walking through the tunnel thing with lots of recorded phone conversations playing...maybe it's part of the Call Me plot.

Thanks again for the replies to the original question!
