ive recently bought a yamaha aerox 2nd hand from a local guy. it is in good condition and full service history. resently i have noticed a rattling noise coming from the engine. ive checked all the bolts are secure and haven't a clue whats wrong. am i being paranoid or is something wrong. can anyone give me some advise?

Could be a broken ring or piston rattle from wear. You should get it looked at soonest. You may need a new piston, rings and a hone job or even a rebore and oversize piston and rings.

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
Sometimes the year can make a difference.

When 2 stroke engines start to ware out, the piston rattles inside of the cylinder, to alert you it's time to rebuild the top end (cylinder, piston & rings).
Leave it be and the piston will seize in the cylinder, causing major engine damage, adding to costly repairs.
2 stroke engines require rebuilds quite often - every 2 years max.
