Advantages: Cell phones today have GPS and maps on them as well as directories to look up places on a moments notice based on your GPS location. For example: You are on the highway on a trip you are tired and want to find a hotel...you can type in the particular hotel you prefer... the app will locate the nearest ones to you. Another example: You are in a new city and you want to locate a starbucks you can use Sprint Navigation (or whatever similiar) type in the location it will find it for you and direct you to if via the talking navigation system on your phone. (Directions, Directory, Telephone Numbers, Locations, etc.) Oh, if you are going to pick up some one and you are in close proximity you can call them and give them an ETA on when to be ready since you are in route.
Disadvantages:
It tends to distract you away from your mission of driving if the above is not set before time while you are not driving. YOu look down at the phone instead of looking at the road you can veer off the road to an oncoming car and have a bad accident. In particular when you text while driving that is very distracting in taking your attention away from the road or any person or obstacle that may come into your path or you may veer off the road and come onto their pathway causing a hazardous situation.
