Hello vee,

Welcome to the board. I'm sorry I can't help you with your question, but I wanted to welcome you. I have not heard of static vertebrae. Could there be another term for this? Could you describe what is going on with your back?

Hopefully someone will know and will be able to provide some suggestions for you.

Thanks very much for the welcome. I live in France but don't speak the language very well. I hve hd an xray and the Consultant says I have static vertebral without affaisement discal. I think the latter part means without affecting anywhere else (discs) In his broken english he said my spine is curved but there were no signs of anything else. It was too difficult for us both to chat about it and I am going to see a physio on Monday. I just wondered if anyone else had come across it. It is at its most painful when I wake on a morning and very difficult to turn over or get out of bed although it is not so stiff as the day goes on. Thanks for any help.
Many thanks
Vee

Hi, i've never heard of that either but if he said your spine is curved, then I assume you may have scoliosis? I really have no clue about this, but static makes it sound like your vertebrae don't move or somthing. Did the doc say anything about any of your vertebrae being fused together?

Also, did you only have x-rays done? If so, then you should try to have an MRI done also as this imaging can usually show if there are any disc herniations and many other things that an x-ray cannot show.

Are you having any pain or symptoms anywhere else other than in your back?

Hi Vee,

If you continue to have pain, you will want to get a MRI. This imaging test shows the soft tissue, nerves, ligaments, etc. as well as the bone, without using radiation. This test helps the physician diagnose back issues with more certainty.
