In the years of 7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603 Queen Elizabeth ruled. And Francis Walsingham was her master spy. I am working on my project (not for school lol) and I need to know some questions about this time period and somethings about Francis Walsingham.

1.Were France and England allies at this time?
2.Did Francis Walsingham have like a team of spies? Did he recruit people to be spies for him?
3.Did James VI and I try to take the throne of England??
4.Were some English already in the Americas at this time?
5.Was England ever about to go to war with another country at this time?

Thank you in advance. And if you could please give me your sources (:. And please answer in detail (:.

1. Sort of. England was allies with whatever country it was convenient to ally with at the time. England and France were friendly and then hostile towards one another. Elizabeth led a military campaign in France. This will give you some info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_I_of_England#France
2. Yes, absolutely.
3. No, I don't think so, thought James VI was her successor
4. She sent a bunch of explorers out, most notably Sir Walter Raleigh , Sir Martin Frobisher, and Sir John Hawkins and Sir Francis Drake. Raleigh was involved in the early English colonization of Virginia under a royal patent. Frobisher landed in Canada. Hawkins was in Plymouth.
5. There were wars: the English War with Spain from 1585-1603 (defeated the Spanish Armada in a major sea battle in 1588); The Irish War, aka the Desmond Rebellions,1560s, 70s and 80s; the Nine Years War from 1594-1603
