Well, it's official. I'm an athiest. Not that I want to be, just that I can't make logic out of religion, especially Chritianity. My heart desperately wants to believe, yearns for God, and I cry out (literally, bawl for hours) every single day to God. No answer.

I realize I talk to Christians hoping that you can give me a reason to believe. I argue with Christians, hoping they will be able to instill faith, just in a God, not necessarily their religion.

So I have 3 sites I can not get ANY Christian to read completely, and if they do, they have no intelligent rebuttal. So I'm sort of challenging any Christians out there I guess. Please don't reply with anything that resembles:

A. Read the Bible. All of the answers are there.
I don't believe the Bible to be 100% accurate, nor do I have reason to believe it was divinely inspired.

B. You just have to believe.
I cannot, repeat CANNOT (no matter how much I desire to) have blind faith in something that seems so strange. Christianity makes no sense to me. It's the belief that a cosmic Jewish zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.....and you are supposed to believe all of this without any sort of reasoning or ways of communicating (truly communicating) with a higher power.

Other then that, if you are a Christian of any sort and truly stand behind your faith, please help a girl that just needs some guidance with believing in God. Actually, scratch that, I don't even care your religion. I don't care WHICH God exists. Read these sites and give me you rebuttal.

But I DO pray for faith.

And most are you are just further proving my point that Christians will not actually look at logic and refute with their own logic. They just spout Bible verses or call me anti God.

I'm not trying to be rude or offend anyone or their religious beliefs. But it seems Christians only want to talk to people that are either going to parrot back their own beliefs or are really easy to convert.
All of those sites talk about how we can exist without a creator and how the "complexity" argument doesn't work.

Yes, I have asked God to reveal himself almost every day for years.

And yes, it is horrible to have the fear/belief that there is nothing else.

Romans 1:

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate...

well it is a question of faith. there's no way you can believe in any god if you dont have some form of faith.

but this is all i will say- think about the human body. how could that come about? our systems are so incredibly complex. even just taking one, the human eye, there is NO way that just happened into being, evolution, the big bang, or any of the other explanations. how did that happen? how do (most of) our bodies work so in harmony?

and do you really feel that this is all there is to life? if that were true, this earth would seem even sadder than it is.

i hope you find what you're looking for.

Like you, IJR prayed for guidance and received a clear answer by not receiving an answer. That proved to IJR GOD was not there. IJR tried desperately to hold on to faith, but after years of trying, it just made more sense that GOD didn't want IJR to believe (which went against EVERYTHING IJR was taught about GOD), or that there was no GOD (Which also went against what IJR was taught). It became obvious that a believe in GOD was simply illogical. Since making that final step, IJR has never looked back, and has never felt better.

no i didn't visit the sites ok...no matter what you believe you're always going to have someone somewhere telling you differently...have u honestly asked God to reveal himself to you in the name of Jesus Christ...

as for not having any faith, everyone has some amount of faith..that's why you're seeking Him...something is something built up over a lifetime...it's the result of what happens when u learn to trust God because He reveals himself to you

sometimes it means listening to what u think is your conscience...then it turns out to be God...tat's the holy spirit...

faith is being certain of what we hope for believing in what we can't see...God is love..you can't see love but you can feel it and u can see it's effects, it's like God...hang in there hun :-}

also, it's best if u list the things from those sites on this page...it's annoying to actually go to the sites..and we can know exactly what u want answers to....

as far as the amputees thing goes--- God doesn't always heal for reasons only he knows...i just had to go through eye surgery, but god turns everything for the good of those who love him...i've learned a lot from this experience

A automobile who believes it evolved over time through natural selection without any human intervention is a stupid automobile. The same is true with humans and God. God will change your mind about Him some day if none of us humans can. The difference will be His way won't be a pleasant way.

hey im agnostic so girl im with you in some ways but no one can really convince you to believe in something you have to find something you actually beleive is true you don't have to look to christianity you can actually study witchcraft which isn't even a religion unless you're a wiccan i know it sounds weird but i mean its something or buddhism which is a way of life more than a religion i mean you already have some faith in something otherwise you wouldn't be asking people these kind of questions

I say you're lying about wanting to believe in God. If you want to believe in Him as badly as you claim, then you DO believe in Him, and you wouldn't come with all this atheist (note the spelling) nonsense.

I just want to point out the flaw here...

you have a choice, you can either read those sites written by people and choose to think that thier way makes enough sense to convince you..or, you can read what someone has written in a holy book and choose to think that it makes enough sense to convince you...either way, you are using someone elses thinking to convince you.

at the same time, I completely understand about the crying out with no answers from God....If I had found my light at the end of the tunnel I would be more than glad to share it with you...

this is a journey you have to take alone.....unfortunately....but I refuse to allow what someone else has thought up, to dictate to me what truth is either way.

Log on to www.intouch.org. Then post your question on the discussion board.

I derive great comfort from knowing I have a Heavenly Father who loves me. And Jesus who intercedes for me. And the Holy Spirit who helps me understand the Bible and sometimes tells me what to pray for.

My faith is not blind. For me, not believing is blind. The world is full of proof. The seed dies and is buried, but comes to life as a huge tree. Every single one of us will eventually die, but how do we know this?

Well, just try that website, post your question and read the answers. They are very good. And there are all sorts of written materials there also.

I visited the first site and have looked a long time ago at one of the others.

That is a lot of reading for the moment and not a single direct question - but many

I would not mind having conversations with you and debating /explaining - what ever you wish to call it.

If you would like - email me through my profile. We can take it one thought / question at a time - I will do my best to give you answers.

Hi,
No problem....Looks like you've been jaded by the religions of this world. That's pretty normal with all the bad press they seem to generate. Don't worry God's not too fond of the worlds religions either, and it does say that in Scripture, but you'll never know that if you don't read it for yourself. As far as Christians go, we try our best to be Christ like but we usally mess that up too. Try not to Judge God by the mistakes of your fellow Man. We tend to set some pretty poor examples at times, but that doesn't mean that God isn't real. It just means we have issues and it's pretty easy to say there is no God based on the mess humans have made of this planet. Not to mention the way we treat each other at times. As far as your reaction to "religion" you have a right to be sceptical. Most religions are out to lunch when it comes to God. Most are just stupid rituals made up by men who think it's best to scare you into salvation. Thank God Jesus wasn't that way. If you really want to know what God is like you should at least give the Book of John a read. It at least shows you how Jesus acted and lived. You''ll find he was a very decent man who really wanted to help people. He wasn't a doom and gloom guy with destruction on his mind.... just the opposite in fact.

There are a LOT of different religions and schools of thought out there. Christianity or atheism is NOT your only choice. Have you tried looking into other religions?

I also dont believe the Bible to be accurate. I believe that many of its messages have changed through multiple translations, and many passages apply to the culture at the time it was written only.

i do not need to read anti god sites to amuse you. you do what you want who is going to scream no i am not you have made your choice

Christianity is something that's really hard to explain. In fact, you can't really explain it, you can only feel it. It's like sheet music. Sheet music means nothing until you hear it played.

I have seen all the evidence in the world I need to see that God is real, but that means nothing to you. I can't tell you how to find God. You have to find him for yourself, and it makes me sad that you've given up. Because faith in God is the most beautiful thing in the world; it's likened to falling in love, only on a much deeper level.

No matter how hard I argue against those websites, I don't think I can make you change your mind. You have to change your own mind, I can't do that for you.
