Can an oscar fish be kept with a plec?

I have been offered the chance to buy an Oscar fish and a pleccy. Both of them are juveniles, I was thinking a pleccy would be a better combination than any other fish. Also, I am prepared to upgrade my tank as the oscar grows. What size tank would be the minimum for a juvenile about 4 inches as a temp measure?

heck yes! the oscar may be aggressive but they don't care about passive bottom dwellers like pleco, and besides, pleco got that hard skin / armor which protects it!

oh and since they're gonna grow up together from young, they'll get along...

good luck!

It would be worth trying to ID the Pleco, there are over 700 species with a range of needs.

A juvenile grows fast, it has the potential to hit 8" within the next 4 months, the smallest I would consider for that Oscar and Pleco - presuming a large "common" or "sailfin" would be 85-100 gallons, preferably over 100. Small fish in a big tank is much more healthy then big fish in a small tank! Both fish are incredibly messy.
