Any addictions? or do they have to be certain kinds?

How does it happen if it's true?

The addition itself might not be passed down genetically (although it is possible for a fetus to develop an addiction while in the mother's womb if the mother does drugs). However, it is possible for a person to be more prone to getting an addition as a result of their genes.

I don't really have any sources off of the top of my head about the latter part of that first paragraph, but if you google the terms addiction gene or something like that, you might be able to find some articles on it.

addictive personalities are hereditary... like alcoholism. Not to mention if your parents always have booze or drugs around, it's not hard to get them and become addicted whether it's in your genes or not. Sadly, I know this is true. :(

I would say yes, but not the way you think.

It is pretty well accepted that mental illnesses can be passed down genetically. While some would say that the addiction itself is a mental illness, I am referring to the basic illnesses like depression or anxiety. People struggling with these illnesses often find great relief in alcohol and drugs, which might be beneficial at first, can eventually lead to unhealthy addictions.
