Can Adenoids affect the gag reflex?

I have an extremely hyperactive gag reflex to a point where it triggers especially when I am doing something physical such as running or what ever. It gets triggered off by the constant post nasal drip that I have because of allergies. I saw a doctor in philly about this earlier this month and she found I had a lot of adenoid tissue. I researched adenoids and I found one article where a doctor stated "In children, enlarged adenoids and tonsils are leading causes for hypersensitive gag reflex."

Does anyone know if the adenoids affect your gag reflex and if so how?

i also get a hypergag reflex, mine is caused by post nasal drip. and tonsil stones
If my tonsil stones get swollen and they push out my tonsils and make my throat really tight. It feels like the back of my throat is being pulled, it is a terrible feeling, i also feel asthmary when i get these problems and have trouble with phlem in throat and upper chest,i also suffer from eustachian tube dysfunction and find i have the problems with the gagging and tight throat when their is a low over us or it is raining

Not an answer to your question but it may help you eliminate the post nasal drip problem.

I periodically suffer from post nasal drip but never gag when running etc.

Do gag when brushing teeth and so on (basically when causing more fluid in back of throat).

So all things being equal (which is probably an over simplification), I would guess that it may be the adenoids issue.
