can acid reflux cause shortness of breath even when you are not eating

Well, in people with asthma, acid reflux can trigger asthma symptoms if the acid starts to "tickle" the lungs. Or sometimes, if the chest pain gets really bad, that can make you feel a little short of breath all by itself.
 
Yes. The acid can irritate the lungs and cause shortness of breath.

For years that and a chronic cough were my reflux symptoms.
 
Yes, even I get the shortness of breath feeling.. and has difficulty taking deep breaths some times. But this problem comes and goes every now and then. When it comes, I will have the breathing problems for about 3 months and then I feel better...I have seen 2 such episodes so far. Right now, I am not having too much of a problem with it, but feel that another episode is just round the corner..fingers crossed..I think its one of the rare symptoms of LPR
