My divorce decree states that my ex husband gets to claim our daughter on his taxes. She lives full time with me.
We are cordial with each other and I asked him if I could start claiming her on my taxes every other year. He wonders if that has to go through the court system.
Neither one of us has money for a lawyer and court fees, so my question is:
If I write up a contract stating that we agree to "take turns" every other year in claiming our daughter on our taxes and we both sign it, will it hold up in court / trump the decree?
p.s. neither one of us would be signing it under duress
