She needs to confess her own sins, and not rely on anyone else to do it. It only has meaning to God when we humble ourselves, and come to Him with a repentant heart, as 1 John 1:9 says. Then she ( and we ) are forgiven and cleansed. Our faith must be in God, not a Catholic priest.
