can a renter put a lien on the landlords house for yardwok?

My landlord owns 2 houses that are side by side to each other, the neighbor that rents the house next door drinks constantly and is irrational, he told the landlords son that he was going to put a lien up on my house I live in (the other rental) because he did yardwork for 18 years and never got paid for it. The neighbor likes to putter around in the yard alot, in fact he mows 3 times a week, he had taken over my backyard until I put my foot down, the he got VERY irate, and we had a confrontation..
I had a garden spot that I wanted to work on and the neighbor had tons of junk in it, I asked him over a month ago to remove his stuff, he never did, so I moved it for him..then in retaliation he told the landlords son that he was going to put a lien on my house I am renting for unpaid yardwork for 18 years..can he do that? The houses are up for sale and the landlords son is buying mine. I am worried that if the neighbor puts a lien on the house it will mess up the sale.

Unless he had a contract for getting paid for yardwork - he's just blowing smoke.

In fact, even if he DID have a contract - verbal or otherwise...he'd have a hard time getting a court to take him seriously if he let it go for eighteen years...

Most likely they decide that something must have honked him off and made him change his mind. Because any reasonable person would not continue to do the work for more than, even six months, and not get paid....unless he was okay with not getting paid...which is probably what would stand up legally.

He can TRY...but I bet it gets thrown out. Though if he drinks that much, he's probably all hot air, and no action. I doubt he even knows how...

If the landlord never hired him to do yard work....then no.

If the yard work he is talking about is for the house he is renting....it's probably in his lease that he has to maintain the yard.

He sounds like a loud mouth drunk shooting off his mouth.
