I'm not trying to over simplify this, but I think you need a good chiropractor! Don't go to a surgeon, surgeons are trained to operate! Every doctor will want to practice what they went to school for!
I love my chiro and he's helped me plenty of times with pinched nerves and sciatica. Please give it a try!

HI All  ,
Long time no see. I am back from Montana and had a great visit (other than the pain). Still suffer from severe Sciatica.
I came home and resumed my PM and massage therapy and still walk a mile a day, ride the bike a mile a day and use the Large Ball, and do my floor stretches every evening.
I couldn't sleep due to pain, even on Arabien, But the Doc gave me the new Lunesta  and now I sleep like a baby. Problem is, My left back, thigh & leg is still VERY painful, the nerve is still pinched.
I have a severe Burning on the side of my leg when I am sleeping as if someone is standing over me with a blow torch  !!! OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW I try to roll over and the other leg does the same thing.
My PM told me I need to see a Vascular Surgeon, I did. HE said they were wrong and said I need to see a NEUROLOGIST!! SO I am working on an appointment for that now.
What do they do? How do they fix the pinched nerve? Do they do Injections? Surgeries? What?
Any info would be GREAT :) , Thanks,
Stardust

RoseQuartz,
Thank You, I understand you are not trying to simplify this. I am just having such a hard time right now with so much pain, and I am so frustrated about there not being anyone in this town to help, I find myself crying all the time just from confusion & aggravation/frustration.
I have never seen a Chiropractor in my life. But if they can unpinch a nerve and get rid of this Sciatica, it would be great!!
How do they unpinch a nerve? stop the Sciatica?
My fusion is doing great and after 4 1/2 months there is already bone fusing and no pain there.
How will the fusion & hardware effect the work of a Chiropractor? IS it even possible for one to help me since the pinched nerve is INthe surgical area WITHthe hardware?
No, I have no intention of ever having Surgery again. I do think I need a Cat Scan though to see what is going on.
But explain the Chiropractor route to me.
Thanks'

RoseQuartz,
Can you help? (post above this one).

Also I see a Chiropractor in the phone book who is also a Neurologist!
I have been told to find a Neurologist anyway.

Thank's,
Stardust

Ok, an Update  .
Last night was night 3 that I woke up with severe pain & skin burning on the right side as well. When I walk my mile on the treadmill, the right side is acting up the same as the left now.
So, Obviously things are getting worse even with PM, Trigger Point & Massage Therapy.
What is anyones opinion of all this?
PM asked if the Trigger point was working, How would I know?? They raised the Fentynal Patches to 50, so what would I be looking for to let them know if the Trigger point is working or not?
Is it possible I already have my answer, by the right side acting up now? That the answer would be no? Seems if it was working the Right side would not of began with so much constant pain now.
Is it time I try some kind of injection to take down some of the pain & Burning?
Anyone have any idea's?
Thank's,
Stardust

I tried going to a chiropractor for about 5 months, going 3 times a week. My sciatica never got any better, in fact i think it made it worse.

did anyone answer yoru question? I've been to 3 chiros and each has made it worse. No matter what I tell them they just do whatever they want. Good luck finding a chiro that will listen to you and not make your problem worse. Chiros are a dime a dozen I wish I could find a good one.

hey there i just made this account . Now this isnt a back problem im having. In my right arm, it kind of feels like a pinched nerve, how can i tell for sure if that might be it?

Stardust, part of your problems could be coming from the SI joint...Is your pm only ordering physical therapy? I would stop doing it because the exercise seems to be only making things worse. Perhaps you need to be re-evaluated by another spine specialist and pm. When was your last MRI?
I just think the people you are with presently are not addressing your problems and more or less are brushing you off and that is unacceptable.

With some problems, pt will not help and can actually make them worse. Every specialist I have ever seen has said that if pt makes the pain get worse, stop that exercise.

I hope this at least gives you something to think about.

Nopain,
No, Nobody is answering any of my posts.
Thank You for taking the time to answer though.
I did not go see the Chiropractor. I was told today there is a Neurologist & A Neurosurgeron. They think I need the Neurosurgeon, so Tomorrorw my Doctor wants to sit down with me and his PA and discuss the problem and Refer me to the right one.
I hope it works.
With the hardware in there I am really scared of a Chiropractor. I will write tomorrow afternoon when I get home and let you know what my Doctor says.
I Pray everything goes right this time.
Thank You,
StarDust

Carol,
Thank You for answering.
When I first began with these people (only the 2nd one in town, within an hours drive).
They told me of all the things they were going to try including accupuncture (that was back in July), but all they do is Trigger Point on Tuesdays and Massage Therapy on Thursdays and nothing else.
No meRAB for BT pain, nothing.
They are the ones who did the EMG test and even though I did not tell him where the surgery was yet, he informed me I have a pinched nerve at the S1 & L5, at that point I yelled (BUT THAT'S WHERE THE SURGERY WAS!!)
He shook his head yes.
There is no other pain specialist within an hours drive or PM either.
I don't remeraber when I had my last MRI, I believe it was this past spring.
But Tuesday I am going to request a CT Scan to see how pinched it really is or if it moved.
But I don't know what to do after that. I can have him send a copy to the surgeon, but it won't do any good, because it's not his problem. I need to find a Neuologist on Monday.
They don't do PT, they do the Trigger Point and the Massages and I was told to do the PT on my own at home and gave me a paper with the pictures on it.
There IS one person here in town, it is called the "Spine Institute", their ad says they do CT Scans, MRI's and deal with pinched nerves. BUT, I would have to stop all pain meRAB, cause they think they are GOD and can fix anything, not to mention there is NO Neurologist in that office.
Maybe this will help, This is what thier ad says and they are right down the road:

St. Johns Orthopaedic & Spine Institute
Neck & Back Surgery
Tumor/Trauma Surgery
Hand Surgery
Nerve Releases
Osteoporosis/Arthritis
Arthroscopic Surgery Hip & Knee Replacement
Sports Injuries
Ankle & Foot Surgery
Pediatrics
Second Opinions
Fractures/Soft Tissue

Healing through CARING, X-Ray on Premises

Board Certified in Orthopaedic & Fellowship & Trained in Spine Surgery.

BUT, there are 3 offices, one being down the road from me, and there is only 1 guy doing all this!

That sounRAB scary.

To Sandollar:

Nerve flossing may help for sciatica. This should be done very carefully at first and should be stopped if there is any aggravation of symptoms.

Look on google or youtube for examples of the flossing movement. Basically, you sit on a table and extend your leg in front of you while tilting your head back, and then bring your leg backwarRAB while tilting the head forward.

As you move the nerve up and down through the spinal canal this way, the theory is (roughly) that it makes chemicals that will cause the impinging tissues to "dissolve" and widen the canal. In other worRAB, the nerve will widen its own path.
