Just curious from watching navy the other day can a someone just go to a service academy for football or any other sport and if they change their mind about joining the military are they allowed to just transfer even if they signed the pledge papers thanks. For example if you ran the triple option in HS and were good could navy recruit you.

No- they make a commitment to whichever branch they attend. It's kind of related to the reason why the Armed Forces don't do so well, on average, in college sports anymore- the kids there expect to do their duty for country. The ones that want to go to the NFL, NBA, or whatever go elsewhere. David Robinson went to Navy, and even though he was a hot basketball prospect, he still had to do his three years.

The Lions had a situation like this a year ago, when a guy they took out of Army was originally going to be allowed to go to camp. If he made the team, he could stay. If he got cut, he'd do his term. The Army changed their policy back to the way it was (term first, then play), and he never got his chance... at least, not for another two years.
