Can a molly fish get pregnant if she's the only fish in the tank?

I have a classroom pet - a molly fish - and she's already given birth a few months ago. She was pregnant when I bought her from the pet store and now, even though she's by herself in the tank, it looks as though she's pregnant again.

Is this possible? Or is she just eating too much? Thanks in advance for your help -- my students and I appreciate it!
 
Here's the deal with the mollie.
With one mating, she will store sperm and release fry about every 4 weeks for up to 6 months. She's not GETTING pregnant I guess you can say she's still pregnant. After giving birth to the fry, in 2-3 months the fry will also begin mating and reproducing (even with their mother) if you don't separate the males from the females very quickly after sexing them.
If it's been a few months since she released the last batch, there's one of two explanations for that:
1.)She had some in the interim and you didn't know it because she ate them, and
2.)She didn't feel the conditions in the tank were appropriate and just didn't release them yet.
