Regarding the incident you mentioned, there is never a reliable book as far as Grand Riot and its aftermath is concerned. All things written about it were documented some 150 years after the actual event .Historians were never neutral nor intended to be.You will find some stories harshly condemning Bani Omaya and those were usually written in Appasiyad state period .You also will find other stories trying to shirk responsibility off Muawiya and his son in all crimes and those were spread by Ibn Hanbal's followers or Al- Mamoun oppositions. The truth is lost in all this mess , and will always be.
