My parents tried to have me civilly committed, and when that woefully misguided plot failed, had me thrown in jail and hired an atty that I saw right through as my legal defense. I fired him to his face, in writing, and successfully petitioned the county magistrate court judge to have him removed as attorney in favor of public defender who had contacted me long before the duplicitous lawyer (admittedly hired to put me away somewhere), but who somehow following the successful petition of counsel dismissal just moments before my Probable Cause hearing, managed to get my public defender pulled off the case without my knowledge and thus I went 7 weeks without legal representation. The man was paid nearly $5000 by my duplicitous parents in an upfront Dec. 2008 sum and later with a dollar amount twice that of the retainer when I walked with a slap on the wrist Disorderly Conduct charge, but had served 90 days in jail with a terminal medical condition for which all but 10% of meds were yanked and withheld for entire incarceration. This man said he'd beeen paid in full when he first came to see me, which was 6 wks into my incarceration and a week later than my intial hearing...He NEVER showed up for any court appearances and tried to sell me on a plea deal that involved going to a state hospital indefinitely which would allow me to plead "not guilty by reason of insanity" to the 6 other trumped up charges. I flat out told him, listen, have you not realized by now that I'm smarter than all of you and see what is going on...My story never changes, so don't insult me by asking me to commit perjury (by saying I was insane, when it was so clear that I was not, that I wasn't even on the lone Psych's rotation and none of the "Mental Health Evaluations" or "Competency Evaluations" either of which would have required 90 days in a state hospital, that MY PARENT's attorney masquerading as my legal defense ordered but never, obviously, needed to happen, because I was released with that wrist slap without any of it. Plan B was simply "Get out Friday on a Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct plea"...While Plan A was sold as "Plan B" PLUS "The One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" Needless, Dangerous, Ill-Defined Commission to the State Hospital...Gee, Why didn't you just give me Plan B in the first place, you filthy moron? What Gives Legal Community?

At least you have parents who care enough about what happens to you and want to see you be well. For whatever reason, they are convinced you are not well. They are trying to help you, however misguided it may seem to be.
There are many people in the world who wished their parents just paid attention to them.
Perhaps you ought to have a "come to Jesus" moment and think hard about why they would think such a thing, and then if you are unhappy with their choice of treatment plan for you, and if you are so much smarter than everyone else, then maybe you could do some research into what kind of arrangements would satisfy both your need for freedom and their need to know you are safe.
