I have a hot water tank that I don't want to replace due to moving soon (hopefully), and the fact that the floor is very fragile & needs to be replaced. The place needs a handyman, & I need to do a quick fix.
I suspect the top element was the only element working before it died. The bottom is full of sediment. I removed both elements, both are ruined. My plan is to replace the original old bottom element & replace the top element with a new unit. I know the system cycles through with the top element operating first, then it clicks over to the bottom. My question is, if the electrical is in place on the top unit & the ground is secure, can the hot water tank operate without cycling to the bottom? Thanks in advance for you expertise.
