Can a Hiptop Slide kill you?

Is there like a chemical in a Hiptop Slide, or any newish phone in that fact, that can kill you? Or is it just old phones with old batteries? Or is it just if you scratch is badly? Or is it when your phone battery is not new and it is a older version of a battery.

No stupid answers please.
