contract with a set prize? I join the Golds Gym in Redwood City on May 2010. I met with a sales person and sign a contract for one year that stated I was going to get charge $30 a month. I ask him if my prize would change, he said no absolutely not. Fast forward 5-6 months later and all of a sudden Golds Gym is now crunch. Basically, what happened was that Golds Gym sold its franchise to this new company Crunch. I inquire with the receptionist about the prize, I ask her if my fee would change and she said no.
I Received a letter today and it states that my membership will increase $3.50 starting in February. So my new prize would be $33.50. My question is this legal? They did not even give me a 30 day notice. My contract was with Golds Gym not Crunch for that prize. Unfortunately, I don't have the contract so I am not sure if there was clause about prize increase.I know this fee might not seem like a lot to some of you but I feel that a contract should be honor. If not they can increase the fee whenever they want. Please help.
