Can a guitar amp with only an input hole use an effects pedal?

My amp only has an input hole and no output hole. And when I hooked up my distortion pedal it didnt work. Do I need an output hole in the amp? It's a 15G amp with input power of 120V~60Hz and 28W. The distortion pedal is a DS-1 BOSS. Someone please help me. I've asked two other questions on the same topic but the answers didn't help
